Out of Northwest London is an unsigned emcee and actress named Laughta.
A member of the High Bar Nationals collective since 2011; Laughta met and began collaborating with fellow artist and producer Str8face, who helped her create her debut EP ‘Unstoppable’, released in July of 2012. During that time, the diversity of her stage appearances ranged from plays and musicals, to wins at SB:TV’s Peacemix and Unsigned Hype (with High Bar Nation), to interviews alongside the likes of Tinchy Stryder on ITN and London360. Each had a definitive impact on Laughta’s artistic expression, though none moreso than in March of 2013, when the chance to open for US Rap Star Joe Budden at East London’s Club XOYO, inspired a new level of intensity and passion for her craft.
The progression of her musical tastes and expressive skills enabled Laughta to discover new talents within herself that far exceeded the Grime genre she started out in. That new mindset came at exactly the right time. Now back with her second EP, ‘Most Wanted’; Laughta is ready for an entirely new phase in her musical career.
Currently preparing to compete in July’s Rapstar competition where Akala – one of Laughta’s lyrical inspirations – will headline the final; this highly respected Rapper is the only female in her category to reach this stage. The following week, this hugely talented female will headline her own EP launch for the very first time. With special guest support from fellow up and coming artist Lady Lykez amongst many others, there can be no question as to why Laughta is earning rave reviews from fellow artists and Industry heavyweights alike.
