In her own words, “I linked up with Quincy Scott, a 20 year old director/editor from New Orleans, for the visual that we shot back at home. It’s public knowledge that I recently signed a deal with Russell Simmons’ All Def Music record label backed with distribution from Universal Records. When people heard the news, naturally the expected me flash money on Instagram, go and purchase a new car, or do some other flashy shxt to prove that I recently reached a new tax bracket. And although I’m richer than I’ve ever been, that’s not the reason I feel like I made it. I’m still driving the same Dodge and drinking 3D Na’Tee Daiquiris instead of Dusse and Ace of Spades. “She Made It,” or at least she’s on her way to making it, because she did it her way. And that my friends, is the coldest feeling ever.”
07 I was pedaling dope out my Tahoe/
married to medicine like the chicks off of Bravo
Used to spend my days pducking 5.0
Now I be out in LA doing Tabo
Did a deal/ I’m worth but I’m still strapped though
I guess I gotta buy a chain and a whip according to the black folks
I guess I gotta do it for the gram/ for the cam/ and spend a stack?/ NO
What the phuck I look like?/ that ain’t what I rap for
But I did it/ yeah I did it
Started shxtting on these bxtches y’all thought I was kidding
Told universal cut the cut the check/ Think I got a victim
Now I’m doing everything that I envisioned
To my admission/ I ain’t never have a pot to piss in…

New Video titled “Betty Shabazz” from Jamla Record’s Rapsody was directed by Brian Petchers and produced by 9th Wonder. From the album, “9th Wonder Presents: Jamla Is the Squad (Deluxe Edition) and is available now for purchase. This is another dope, lyrical song from the emcee who continues to deliver. We guarantee you will press repeat. Our only complaint was that it didn’t go back to the Betty Shabazz track.
Out of Northwest London is an unsigned emcee and actress named Laughta.
A member of the High Bar Nationals collective since 2011; Laughta met and began collaborating with fellow artist and producer Str8face, who helped her create her debut EP ‘Unstoppable’, released in July of 2012. During that time, the diversity of her stage appearances ranged from plays and musicals, to wins at SB:TV’s Peacemix and Unsigned Hype (with High Bar Nation), to interviews alongside the likes of Tinchy Stryder on ITN and London360. Each had a definitive impact on Laughta’s artistic expression, though none moreso than in March of 2013, when the chance to open for US Rap Star Joe Budden at East London’s Club XOYO, inspired a new level of intensity and passion for her craft.
The progression of her musical tastes and expressive skills enabled Laughta to discover new talents within herself that far exceeded the Grime genre she started out in. That new mindset came at exactly the right time. Now back with her second EP, ‘Most Wanted’; Laughta is ready for an entirely new phase in her musical career.
Currently preparing to compete in July’s Rapstar competition where Akala – one of Laughta’s lyrical inspirations – will headline the final; this highly respected Rapper is the only female in her category to reach this stage. The following week, this hugely talented female will headline her own EP launch for the very first time. With special guest support from fellow up and coming artist Lady Lykez amongst many others, there can be no question as to why Laughta is earning rave reviews from fellow artists and Industry heavyweights alike.

The first single from the EP “Hear I Am” by Kaye Fox was directed by @leondotcom for @mudwingmedia which shows a relationship that has reached its boiling point due to deception. We have all been there right? Kaye Fox, born in South Carolina moved to the Westside of Chicago as a young child. Like most she found her voice in church choir but didn’t stop there. Linking up with Grammy Award winning producer NO ID and together they built an incredible catalogue of music that made her a sought after commodity not only in Chicago, but all throughout the music industry. As a part of No ID’s production team, Kaye Fox has gained vocal credits on some of the last few year’s top albums from artists such as Kanye West, Rick Ross, Nas, Richard Ashcroft (The Verve), Big Sean, J Cole, & Common. Look out for her new EP titled “Hear I Am”, which is set to be released in April. The latest video titled “One’s Company” from Akua was directed by Kofi Carson & Akua Carson while Production Management was by Elias Morales. It’s eeriness isn’t coming from the lyrics but more from the imagery taking place in a morgue lab, chapel and graveyard but points for originality and fluidity. Akua, out of Montreal, has an amazing voice and is definitely carving her own lane. “Remote Soul” is how she describes her music and u must also listen to “Monsters” to understand. She is performing at this years SXSW Festival in Austin, TX but if you’re not able to catch that you can download Akua One’s Company album which is available on iTunes now!

Truly, does she really need an introduction? Well I guess if you haven’t heard of Cocoa Sarai then yes and this is perfect intro if we say so ourselves. At FemaleFlow.com we constantly see female artists subjected to the ups and downs of label politics, A&R fuckery and borderline sexist demands so this is a video directed by Jaison Blackrose addresses just that head on. It is short and to the point but trust this isn’t the last you have seen of Ms. Cocoa Sarai as she is set to release The Black and White: Reloaded which many are sure to buy. She has built her fan base one by one with shows, consistency and boldness.
