New Music: Low Leaf + King Britt “A Light Within”

lowleaf

Low Leaf. Love the name. Love the spirit. Love the music and I think you will too!  She is Filipino-American with satin vocals that put you on a cloud. Some have called her weird but what is weird when it comes to art, right? I think a better word would maybe be enchanting. I had seen her video “June Gloom” directed by Henry Kaplan that was amazing visuals but what stood out was how original and naturally different she is. Below is her latest release and she has made it a #FreeDownload for you to enjoy. Be on the look out for more as she is set to drop something April 29th via Fresh Selects.  In the meantime also check her BANDCAMP for more!

#NewVideo – @ItsKayeFox “Used to Love You” featuring YP

kaye-fox-stair

The first single from the EP “Hear I Am” by Kaye Fox was directed by @leondotcom for @mudwingmedia which shows a relationship that has reached its boiling point due to deception. We have all been there right? Kaye Fox, born in South Carolina moved to the Westside of Chicago as a young child. Like most she found her voice in church choir but didn’t stop there. Linking up with Grammy Award winning producer NO ID and together they built an incredible catalogue of music that made her a sought after commodity not only in Chicago, but all throughout the music industry. As a part of No ID’s production team, Kaye Fox has gained vocal credits on some of the last few year’s top albums from artists such as Kanye West, Rick Ross, Nas, Richard Ashcroft (The Verve), Big Sean, J Cole, & Common. Look out for her new EP titled “Hear I Am”, which is set to be released in April. The project is a masterful combination of R&B/Soul and Gospel influenced vocals, organic musicianship, and hard beats that promise energetic performances with her live band. Kaye’s songs are authentic, personal expressions.   Follow her on Twitter!  ~ Missy B

#NewVideo – @akuamusic “One’s Company” directed by Kofi Carson & Akua

The latest video titled “One’s Company” from Akua was directed by Kofi Carson & Akua Carson while Production Management was by Elias Morales.  It’s eeriness isn’t coming from the lyrics but more from the imagery taking place in a morgue lab, chapel and graveyard but points for originality and fluidity. Akua, out of Montreal, has an amazing voice and is definitely carving her own lane.  “Remote Soul” is how she describes her music and u must also listen to “Monsters” to understand. She is performing at this years SXSW Festival in Austin, TX but if you’re not able to catch that you can download Akua One’s Company album which is available on iTunes now!

Who is Lady Daisey?

Lady Daisey (Daisey Traynham – Brooklyn, NY) is a soul/funk singer who spent her childhood touring the U.S. with her parent’s band. Raised on the road, home-schooled and surrounded by music, it was natural for her to blossom into the artist that she is. Since then, she’s been following her musical path and developed her own playful style, ranging from sultry love songs to powerhouse feel-good old-school soul. Lady Daisey has played venues and festivals around the globe, spreading her message of love and positivity, soulfully presented over head noddin’ Batsauce beats. A small woman with a huge voice, Lady Daisey is sure to grab the attention and steal the hearts of everyone within ear’s reach.

[New Music] @JackLucyFM – 1827

Last week I had the opportunity to see JackLucy perform at The Bitter End which is also when she released 1827.  She plays the guitar with ease, she smiles as she shares her pain and there is nothing shallow about her lyrics.  Who is JackLucy? “When I’m on stage I move my feet like Dave Matthews, eat the mic like Kurt Cobain, play my guitar like Ani DiFranco and sing like me.”

Dreezy, out of Chicago, pours her emotions out on this song produced by D. Brooks.
